The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime costs just $149.99, and is a good handheld device at this level. Whether your old phone has been damaged or you are just in the market for a new phone you would be pretty happy with a new Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (Duo SIM). The Grand Prime is a very good phone that’s sleek looking and has the traditional Galaxy feel in your hands. It’s powered by a Quad-Core processor that clocks at 1200 MHz. It has a pretty big touchscreen display of 5 inches. It has a primary camera of 8 MP and a front-facing one of 5 MP.
This Galaxy is very compact, even with its 5 inch display the entire length only measures 5.7 inches long and 2.84 inches wide, designed with slimness in mind it only stands a thickness of just 0.34 inches. At the time of this writing this very light 5.5oz phone is only offered in white. This Galaxy was equipped with max resolution of 960 x 540 pixels that really details this phone with detailed graphic quality. The screen employs the capacitive technology and is multi-touch enabled.
Samsung really went above and beyond when they decided to design this phone using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 8916 system chip, and backed up with the very fast Quad-Core processor. One drawback is it only has 1GB of RAM which is a bit subpar considering the Grand Prime’s powerful processor. As a general rule graphic intensive applications consume a lot of processing time, but in order to offset that this phone has a 450 MHz Adreno 306 GPU to assist the CPU with those labor intensive apps.
The Grand Prime is nicely fit with a sizable 8GB internal memory and also has a SD card slot allowing for the storage of hundreds of applications and games without a problem. As mentioned earlier, the Grand Prime is equipped with 2 cameras, an 8MP and a 5MP, it is capable of capturing Full-HD 1920 x 1080 videos at 30fps. The main camera features a flash, face detection, autofocusing and geo-tagging.
Connectivity of the Grand Prime consists of Wi-Fi and 3G. The device also can enable a Wi-Fi hotspot for other devices to link to your own. The data connection uses HSPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies, and for connecting to data it uses a Micro SIM card for GSM networks. The Grand Prime also features Bluetooth 4.0, GPS Localization, Near Field Communication (NFC) and Radio. It also has an accelerometer, proximity sensor and a light sensor. The Grand Prime’s battery is a big 2600mAh Li-Ion and it’s replaceable. It definitely gives this phone decent battery life. One of my favorite features of this Galaxy Grand Prime is that it is dual SIM card capable, so if you’re like us and you frequently travel in and out of country, this feature really saves time and hassles, all you have to do is switch your using SIM and viola, you’re cruising along the other carrier’s networks with no problems… by far a huge up vote for that alone.
